Linux Administrator

• Knowledge of Linux: RedHat, Ubuntu, Debian, etc.

• Experience with hardening configurations

• Experience with MySQL and/or MariaDB, and ideally Galera Cluster.

• Familiarity with Proxmox Virtual Environment management and concepts.

• Knowledge in Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting

• Knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTPS, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP

• Knowledge of IT security principles, secure protocols, encryption fundamentals, Linux hardening

• Participate in evolving the Simartis products from an operational and security perspective

• Strong analytical skills

• Willingness to learn

• Adaptability, Organization, ability to communicate with less technical colleagues

• Strong problem solving skills

Key job responsibilities/duties include:

• Install and Configure Linux Systems

• Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a

24x7x365 uptime service

• Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments

• Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on

servers, workstations, and network hardware

• Provide Internal and External Technical Support and Guidance

• Contribute to the improvements of the support activities

• Design and develop infrastructure monitoring and reporting tools

• Develop and maintain configuration management solutions

• Ability to build and monitor services on production servers

• Involved in developing and overseeing the backup, replication, clustering and fail

over strategies

• Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks

• Manage Kubernetes and container (e.g. Docker) environments

• Monitor and modify system performance in an agile and highly flexible

environment.

• Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability

of the environment

• Setup VPNs (IPSEC / Fortigate) between Simartis and customer's network

• Very good understanding of networking principles, propose infrastructure setup

taking into account the Simartis and customer's specific network requirements

• Understands network security principles, experience with network segmentation

• Implementation and configuration of Proxy / Reverse proxy, firewalls, load

balancers

• Gain knowledge about the Simartis products and technologies, understand the

business logic implemented by the products, understand the technical details of the

products.

• Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies

and deployment processes

• Participate in On Call (monitoring live systems during daytime, available anytime

if customers call the Simartis support number for *critical* incidents)

• Supervise the Simartis Live products, troubleshoot, answer to customer tickets

• Contribute to setting up / maintaining a CI/CD infrastructure
